A great place to stay in Makarska: Apartments Alagić

For the second summer in a row, Miloš and I headed down the Croatian coast to Makarska, in the region of Dalmatia.  It’s about an hour south of Split, and is home to great beaches, hopping night life, and excellent restaurants.  We stayed again at Apartments Alagić, and couldn’t have been happier.  In fact, we were SO happy, that I wanted to intentionally write a little blog post just for the family that runs this place, in hopes it can help them get more happy guests!

To start, the apartments are located a short two minute walk from the old city center, which is right next to the sea.  From here, you can easily reach several beaches, and lots of restaurants and shops.  There are several different kinds of room types, with various views available.

We were picked up at the bus station and transported with our luggage right to the apartment building.  That service immediately removes any kind of searching for an address or trying to get around town while hauling suitcases.  (No need for a cab either!)  Our hosts also took us to the bus station when it was time to leave.

Each year, we were greeted with a full platter of prosciutto and tomatoes upon check in. (SO delicious!)  Our fridge also had a full bottle of sparkling Croatian mineral water and a bottle of wine.  Our room was freshened up daily, and we were even able to have our laundry washed and ironed on site.  (Complimentary, of course.)

This year, they added a special touch by treating us to dinner one night.  We were able to choose meat or fish, and we enjoyed a wonderful dinner on the balcony, overlooking the town of Makarska.  Our dinner included grilled lamb, veal, and chicken, with grilled vegetables and potatoes on the side.  It was so amazingly good!  Everything was grilled to perfection!  We also got to try some of their homemade cherry and walnut liqueurs, and homemade olive oil and red wine.  Such a lovely personal touch – just as tasty as the finest of restaurants!

If you’re looking for a fantastic seaside vacation, at a great price, I highly recommend staying at Apartments Alagić in Makarska, Croatia.

We travel agents make our money based on commissions when we book trips for our clients, so I do not make a single penny in recommending a stay here.  BUT, I really believe strongly in giving credit where credit is due, and helping out well-deserving people when they go above and beyond in providing truly superior service and experiences.  What we got at Apartments Alagić was the finest level of service and hospitality.

As for Miloš and I, we just might even be back again ourselves next year!  (This could perhaps become an annual tradition!)

Here’s the info for the apartments!
