I know it’s been a little while since I posted. But I have several posts in the works: a new Maškare post for 2014, more observations on cultural differences, and more insights on the process of being an American overseas.
For today, just some simple daily routine things. Caroling season is over obviously, and I got all my tax stuff in to my accountant before heading to Europe. Right now, I have some travel clients that I am doing stuff for – mostly Disney trips in the works, with a few other awesome trips as well. But a normal day here is similar to a normal day back home. I thought I’d talk about some of those things…
First – the grocery store!
Yesterday, we did some significant grocery shopping at the big grocery store near the edge of town. In town, the shops are small, but there’s a bigger store farther out from the center. Not as big as our grocery stores in the USA, but almost.
Here are some pics and observations….
(When you see prices, they are in Kuna, which is the form of currency used in Croatia. Currently, $1 US is equal to 5.6 Kuna.)
As you can see, some things are the same everywhere. They want you to buy Skittles no matter what country you live in!
Other observations? Cheese is a lot more expensive here. Actually lots of types of food are pricier here. Coke especially. Coke is SO pricey in Europe. That part sucks.

Second…. In other normal daily stuff… we’ve been trying to get into a better exercise routine. We actually started running. (Yes, I have been running. Don’t faint over dead!) Today, Miloš was playing tennis with some of the guys out on Kačjak (the peninsula above town) so I went with and went running laps around the peninsula while he played. Then I watched him play for awhile when I was done. The difference from back home? Some great scenery while running. Here are some pics from my run. You might recognize some of the locations from blogs past…
The weather has been rather cold the last few days, so this bit of sunshine was quite welcome. (Although I can’t complain, considering the extreme cold back home in the northeast US.)
So that’s just a look inside some of the normal daily stuff here in Croatia!
More soon!
