Engaged!

Happy belated Valentine’s Day everyone!

Well, my Facebook friends are already well aware of our big announcement from this past Friday…

 Miloš and I got engaged!

Friday the 13th is a lucky day after all! 🙂

I can’t say I didn’t know it was coming – we had already started the process of planning the wedding and choosing the date.  We even went ring shopping together.  But I had no idea when or how he was going to do it.

He surprised me on Friday afternoon when we walked out to Kačjak (the peninsula above town) and climbed down to our favorite cove by the sea.  We walked out on to the cluster of rocks in the water (where we often sunbathe in the summer) and he surprised me with the proposal.

You all know our story already, so I’m not going to repeat myself, but I thought I’d share some overall thoughts.

(Here’s a link to our LOVE STORY if you’d like to read it, or in case you’re new to the blog.)

So, here goes with some of those thoughts…

•For anyone who has ever been jaded or felt cynical when it comes to love, I personally know that feeling.  Been there, done that.  But I was proven wrong, and I came to realize that love is real and amazing.  I needed the right person to help me learn that lesson.  (CLICK HERE for my revelation post.)  If things aren’t going great for you and your love life, just hang in there – it will happen when it’s time.  I know waiting sucks, but often in life, the best things come to those who wait.

•For anyone who has ever felt the pain and yearning of being in a long distance relationship, just hang in there.  If you really want to make it work, you will.  When two people want to be together, they will find a way.  No one knows that better than Miloš and I.

•For anyone in a long distance relationship who has had to listen to all the skeptics and their negative comments… well, those naysayers don’t know what they’re talking about.  What matters is the two people in that relationship and their commitment to each other.  Don’t ever let people tell you it can’t work!

•There is someone out there for everyone.  It’s just a matter of finding the person whose idiosyncrasies mesh with your own.  Someone who brings you happiness, friendship, fun, and love.  Someone who makes you feel safe and appreciated.

Here’s to love and happiness, everyone!  <3

And here are a few pics from our walk on Friday…
