I got upgraded to first class!!!

Hello readers!  I’m writing this from the plane.  From FIRST CLASS!  (And posting on the blog now that I just got home.  Still no wifi on the actual plane – I asked.)

By some kind of awesome crazy luck, I got a free upgrade just as I was getting ready to board the plane.  The woman working the boarding desk pulled me aside and told me to wait a moment.  She and the other woman printed me out a new boarding pass and said, “Enjoy your new seat – we love your dress!”

I had no idea what my new seat was.

Until I got on the plane.

And saw that I was in first class.  First time ever!

So of course the first thing I did was take lots of pics!

When I left Vienna, I asked Miloš to send me some good happy vibes.  (I always get really upset when I have to put the ocean between us.)  I got his reply message during my layover in Munich – and his good vibes actually worked.  I miss him like crazy, but sitting here in first class is keeping me from crying the whole way home.  Things happen for a reason, and I do know I’d have been weeping half the flight.  (Hence me packing a role of toilet paper in my carry on to use as tissues.)  So this is maybe Pop-Pop’s way of keeping me from feeling so sad today.  🙂  (For those of you who are not regular readers, my late grandfather is my guardian angel, and he’s constantly looking out for me.)

I got a free glass of champagne when I got to my seat.  I was also able to choose entrees for my meal from a very nice menu.  We first got an appetizer of salad and chicken with thai sauce.  For my entree I had shrimp with tomato chutney, sauteed sugar snap peas, and lemon risotto.  I was able to have all the wine I wanted (no charge), and had a cannoli for dessert.

We got fancy head phones, a super nice blanket, and a kit with toiletries and stuff.  The seats were electronically controlled for reclining.  The movie screen swings out of the panel in front of me and to my left are an outlet for charging, a USB port, a headphone plug, and a reading light.  Oh yeah, there’s also the handset remote for the TV screen.  Having a window seat means that I have no one next to me.  It’s so fancy up here!   Obviously I can’t get used to this, but I’ll enjoy it – especially since it’s a long trans-atlantic flight.

(It was awesome!)
