My neighborhood in Vienna

Hi everyone!  I thought I’d post a little bit about where I’m living here in Vienna.  You all got to see the inside of my apartment, but here’s a look at the area outside.

I’m living in the second district, which is between the first district (the old inner city) and the Danube River.  (I included a satellite image below of Vienna that I found online.)

I live right off of Taborstrasse, which is a main thoroughfare.  If I walk straight down this particular street, I get to the Inner City in about ten minutes.  There are lots of shops and stores around me.  Right across the street is a Hofer, which is a smaller grocery type store.  And down the street is a Billa (bigger grocery store) and a BIPA (think like a CVS-lite.)

As I mentioned before, I live right next door to the Taborstrasse UBahn stop, and I’m really close to the Augarten, which is a large walled-in park less than two blocks from here.

Here are some pics from me exploring the area.

  1. Jen, your apartment looks really nice! Thanks for the photos and updates for us non-Facebook folks. 🙂 Also, someone asked in another post’s comments but you didn’t answer–when is your first audition? I’m sure that will make an interesting blog post!
