Opening night, here we come!

I sit here on my night off after a grueling tech week for “Oklahoma!”  I am justifiably exhausted and grateful that I can sleep in as late as I want tomorrow before heading to the theatre.

Some of you will of course be aware of certain theatre superstitions and traditions.  I’m not a TOTAL superstitious type, but there are some that I do kind of believe in.  The one that I’ve always believed in was that it was good luck to have a bad dress rehearsal.  Well, I wouldn’t say our dress was bad, but enough things went wrong that I think we’ll have sufficient good luck for opening night.  😉

I don’t know if I can begin to explain the excitement of opening night to anyone who hasn’t experienced it personally, but I will try.  Imagine a roller coaster ride that you know really well.  You know exactly what’s coming, you feel totally prepared for the experience, but once you speed down that first hill, the adrenaline kicks in and your heart is pumping…. it’s an absolute thrill and you can’t wait to do it again!  The experience is at all times exciting, scary, nerve-wracking, and amazingly awesome.  It’s that experience that makes all the hard work and time  you put in totally worth it.

I am also very lucky to have had so many wonderful opportunities to perform with really wonderful people, and this production is no exception.  Rose Valley is like one great big family, and I’ve met some very dear friends through this group.

I hope some of you will be coming out to see our show!  There are SEVEN performances from April 8 – 16.  Visit www.rvco.org for more info!
