Passau, Germany

Usually, we only get a couple of hours in this lovely little city, but recently due to the low water levels on the rivers in this area, we had more opportunities to explore and get to know the wonderful city of Passau as we remained docked there for a few days.

Passau’s nickname is the “City of Three Rivers” due to the Danube River meeting the Inn and Ilz Rivers above and below the city.  Where the Danube and Inn Rivers meet, you can actually see the colors of the two rivers converging.

One afternoon last week, I had the opportunity to get out and stroll the city’s quaint little cobblestone streets and browse the many shops along the main thoroughfare that runs through the old town.  Near where the ships dock on the Danube side of the peninsula is a fantastic ice cream shop call Rialto.  (Named just like the bridge in Venice.)  And a few evenings while in Passau, Milos and I headed out to a nice little Italian restaurant just across the street from the ships called Mondo Italiano.  We’ve had some excellent meals there – and the service is simply top notch.  Good pizza, pastas, seafood dishes – we recommend it for sure!

Here are some photos from my stroll around town.  Enjoy!
