The Zadar Adventures Continue….

There weren’t going to be ANY more early mornings for Miloš and I until our last day, which meant sleeping in – my favorite!  (Seriously, how can people be “morning people?”  My brain just doesn’t comprehend…)

We headed into Old Town and decided to check out one of the touristy famous beaches – Kolovare.  But first – lunch!  We hit up our fave pizza spot (Giardin, of course) and then we were on our way through Old Town.  I stopped to get a few pics at the far end of town near the old city gate…

The Kolovare Beach area is quite large and stretches along for awhile.  There are some bars and snack stands throughout.  The beach itself was quite crowded, but we found a spot towards the far end of the beach – near the southern end.  The water here off the shore got deep fast, and it seemed to be a much cooler temperature.  It was certainly cooler than the water at Saharun the day before!

We stayed at the beach for a few hours, then headed back into town.  Once in the middle of town, we stopped for some palacinke – Nutella, of course.  Now, I have to say that my palacinka got stuck to the plate and the only way to get it off of the plate to eat it was to end up ripping it and making quite a mess of myself and my plate.  Miloš would have you believe it was due to my inexperience with the palacinke, but don’t let him fool you… my messiness is all a part of my adorable charm!  hahaha!  😉

The next day, we headed back to Old Town for lunch, this time trying out a restaurant in the section of town near all the old wells.  Here are some shots from our table….

I have to say that some of the translations and names of the different menu selections can be quite interesting.  I got quite a laugh over the warty venus shells.  I’ll definitely pass on those…

This time, we went to a section of shore line just below the crowded beach area.  I didn’t want to feel swarmed in by all those people.  We had a very lovely beach afternoon.  Sun, sea, surf, togetherness… quite nice indeed.  🙂

On our way back to our hotel, we naturally took the Barka boat.  On that long pier that it’s located on, there’s a raised wall that runs along the entire one side.  It’s quite wide, and Miloš lifted me up on to it, which meant picture time and silliness!

On this particular night, we had a FABULOUS late night dinner at Restaurant Kaštel.  Since it was already into the evening hours when we got back from the beach, we didn’t head out for dinner until quite late.  I mentioned in the restaurant review post that this particular restaurant was one of my favorites – I would go back again in a heart beat.  Excellent service, delicious food, romantic atmosphere.  The restaurant is built on the side of a hotel and the walls really look like a castle.  We even had a cannon next to our table.  Due to the late hour, there weren’t too many other people around, so we kind of had the area to ourselves.  It was a lovely evening – not only did we thoroughly enjoy our meal, but we did a lot of laughing, and Miloš teased me about my classy way of holding my fork as I cut my food…which led to even more laughing . (I guess I need to go to finishing school – hahahaha!)

After dinner, we headed further into the Old Town area again, and decided to climb the tower.  It closed at midnight, and we still had about fifteen minutes to get to the top and look around.

And it wouldn’t be a night in Old Town without a trip to the Sea Organ and the Greeting to the Sun!

After that, it was back to the hotel for the night to rest up for another day!
