“We got the moves. Like Jagger.”

The beginning of that last week of Miloš’ visit was spent meeting up with some friends, followed by me getting sick a bit.  (Ruined our plans to head back into NYC for another day, since I had to go to the doctor and make sure I didn’t have the flu – which I didn’t, thank God.)

Then that Thursday, December 13th, we had tickets for the Rolling Stones concert in Newark.  We purchased them less than 24 hours after they went on sale, and Ticketmaster was already sold out.  (Yowzers!) We had to go through Stub Hub (online ticket reseller) and pay crazy marked up prices for nosebleed seats.  But Miloš has been a Stones fan for so long – he didn’t want to miss this opportunity.  They’re not on my faves list, but come on – it’s the Rolling Stones!  Kind of cool and a bit epic to be there seeing them perform live on their final tour!

We both got into our new rock tees that we bought in NYC, and I decided to wear the cute little faux-leather short shorts that I had got on a killer discount sale at Arden B.  ($15, people!!!!)  They had ONE pair left and it was my size.  Fashion destiny.

Anyway, back to the concert….

I refused to pay the insane parking fees at the lots and garages around the Prudential Center, so I actually found street parking three blocks away.  Nothing beats free baby! Oh yea!

We had to go through special security, and we were off to find our seats.  (With a quick detour to buy some beer along the way.)

And our seats were true nosebleed.  We were the second to last row directly to the side of the stage.  (For my theatre peeps, we were stage left and straight up.)  Despite our distance from the stage, we were lucky – we got aisle seats!

Well, the concert was fabulous!  SO MUCH FUN!  The Stones sounded great. (And dude, if I can still run around a stage like Mick when I’M 70, then I’ll consider myself among a very lucky few!  Holy cow!)

We stood the whole time in the aisle, dancing and jumping away, having such a fun time – singing along all the way.

However, near the end, during “Jumping Jack Flash,” of all songs, Miloš jumped too close to the edge of the step and seriously pulled his ankle – like REALLY bad.  He had to sit for a few minutes, until he got back up and jumped and danced the rest of the time on one leg.  He wouldn’t know just how bad the pull was right away.  (Remember, we both were enjoying the beer offerings available that night, which I think numbed some of his initial pain.)

One of the super cool things (if I can brag a teeeeeensy moment here) was just how many people kept coming up to us as they were leaving (I guess to beat the traffic exodus) to tell us how fun we were and how we added such a wonderful element to the concert.  And being the spotlight whore that I am, I loved it.  Hahaha!  (Miloš loved it too!)  I guess our energy was contagious – we danced, jumped, and sang the whole time, simply because we were enjoying ourselves so much.  🙂

After the concert, we slowly worked our way out of the venue.  Miloš was really starting to feel the pain now, and he had to lean on me the whole time just to be able to walk.

Despite Miloš’ injury, we SO enjoyed the concert – it really was a once in a lifetime opportunity – and we got to be there!  What an awesome memory to be able to make! 🙂
